There are various natural ways to treat acne and one that I used for several months is lavender oil. Lavender is known for its skin healing properties as well as its ability to keep acne causing bacteria at bay. I found my lavender essential oil on ebay, a small bottle that has about 10 ml of the pure oil.
What I did was use a tiny amount using a cotton swab and dabbed it on active zits. Because some individuals might be sensitive to the pure essential oil, I highly suggest that you dilute this first with a carrier oil such as olive oil before using. It can cause redness and slight itching when used pure. Diluting it can minimize these side effects.
I found lavender oil to be effective in a way that it dries zits really fast. If you apply it at night, you'd wake up and notice that live spots are no longer that red and are less angry looking. However, it could be a challenge hiding them using a concealer as the dryness and chapping will show up, unless you use a moisturizer. I liked lavender oil a lot better than tea tree oil when it comes to acne treatment as TTO takes days to take effect and is really like benzoyl peroxide in terms of results---which are prolonged redness and peeling.
I stopped using lavender oil because the smell bothered me so much that it made me sleepy during the day and quite irritable at night. However, as an acne treatment, I have nothing but praises for it since it also minimizes scars and doesn't leave deep marks.
